5) Fight Crime: Invest In Kids
This is a book review I did first published in The Fresno Bee and then in the American Bar Association's Children's Rights Litigation Section Newsletter. The reviewed book, Ghosts from the Nursery: Tracing the Roots of Violence , is a must read for anyone wanting to learn about the most cost-effective way to reduce crime and other forms of serious anti-social behavior. This book was an epiphany for me. Please read the article, and if you feel so motivated, forward it to others, read the book, talk to your local, state, and federal representatives about reading the article and book. Until we spend our tax dollars on the most effective prevention programs, we will continue to pour money into the black hole of after-the-fact responses (aka jail, prison, treatment programs, etc.).
